Wavelength Cut is a video players app from Wavelength Labs. It was built around one idea: give people a tool that opens quickly, works when the network does not, and does not ask for an account before it is useful.

What you get
• Frame-accurate trimming
• Auto captions on device
• Export presets per platform

How it behaves
Everything that can happen on the device happens on the device. Where Wavelength Cut does need a server, it tells you before it sends anything. Settings are plain, exports are open formats, and nothing is locked to this app if you decide to move on.

Wavelength Cut is free to download, with optional purchases for the advanced features.

Wavelength Labs reads every support message. If something is broken, write in and it gets looked at — the release notes name the people who reported each fix.

    Exactly what I wanted and nothing I did not. The tablet layout is thought through rather than stretched. Will update this review if that changes.

  • Not what it was

    Was great until the last update. Half the features I paid for moved behind a second subscription. Give it a try before you pay for anything else.

  • Good with caveats

    Solid, but I am holding back a star for now. Importing from my old app lost some of my formatting. Happy to raise the rating once it is fixed.

    Good core app, a few rough edges. I would like more control over notifications — it is all or nothing right now. Worth the money.
