About this app

A turn-based RPG with a story that branches properly.

Basalt Chronicle is a role playing app from Basalt Studio. It was built around one idea: give people a tool that opens quickly, works when the network does not, and does not ask for an account before it is useful.

What you get
• Forty hours of hand-written story
• Party of six with real builds
• No gacha, no energy
• Cloud saves

How it behaves
Everything that can happen on the device happens on the device. Where Basalt Chronicle does need a server, it tells you before it sends anything. Settings are plain, exports are open formats, and nothing is locked to this app if you decide to move on.

Basalt Chronicle is a one-off purchase. There is no subscription and no advertising.

Basalt Studio reads every support message. If something is broken, write in and it gets looked at — the release notes name the people who reported each fix.

  • Good with caveats

Decent, with one annoyance I keep running into. I would like more control over notifications — it is all or nothing right now. Give it a try before you pay for anything else.

  • Does exactly what it says

Surprisingly good for something this small. The offline support is the real selling point for me. Give it a try before you pay for anything else.

  • Does exactly what it says

Surprisingly good for something this small. The offline support is the real selling point for me. Recommended regardless.

  • Does exactly what it says

Exactly what I wanted and nothing I did not. Battery use is negligible, which I cannot say for the alternatives. Recommended regardless.

  • Finally

Does one job and does it properly. Updates are regular and the changelog actually says what changed. Will update this review if that changes.

    Bilal Q. · 5 months ago · version 6.2.5 · 13 found this helpful

  • Better than the big names

Does one job and does it properly. The tablet layout is thought through rather than stretched. Will update this review if that changes.
