Slate City is a simulation app from Slate & Stone. It was built around one idea: give people a tool that opens quickly, works when the network does not, and does not ask for an account before it is useful.

What you get
• Agent-based traffic
• Zoning, utilities and budgets
• Plays entirely offline
• Save files you can export

How it behaves
Everything that can happen on the device happens on the device. Where Slate City does need a server, it tells you before it sends anything. Settings are plain, exports are open formats, and nothing is locked to this app if you decide to move on.

Slate City is a one-off purchase. There is no subscription and no advertising.

Slate & Stone reads every support message. If something is broken, write in and it gets looked at — the release notes name the people who reported each fix.

    Decent, with one annoyance I keep running into. Sync occasionally needs a nudge before it picks up changes from my other device. Recommended regardless.

  • Fast and out of the way

    Surprisingly good for something this small. The tablet layout is thought through rather than stretched. Will update this review if that changes.
