About this app

A task list with dates that actually mean something.

Northwind Tasks is a productivity app from Northwind Labs. It was built around one idea: give people a tool that opens quickly, works when the network does not, and does not ask for an account before it is useful.

What you get
• Natural language dates
• Recurring rules that handle skips
• Calendar overlay
• Keyboard-first on tablets

How it behaves
Everything that can happen on the device happens on the device. Where Northwind Tasks does need a server, it tells you before it sends anything. Settings are plain, exports are open formats, and nothing is locked to this app if you decide to move on.

Northwind Tasks is free to download, with optional purchases for the advanced features.

Northwind Labs reads every support message. If something is broken, write in and it gets looked at — the release notes name the people who reported each fix.

  • Nearly there

Works well most of the time. Sync occasionally needs a nudge before it picks up changes from my other device. Worth the money.

  • Better than the big names

Switched from a paid competitor and have not looked back. Battery use is negligible, which I cannot say for the alternatives. Happy to raise the rating once it is fixed.

  • Not what it was

Was great until the last update. Half the features I paid for moved behind a second subscription. Happy to raise the rating once it is fixed.

  • Broken since the update

Wanted to like this one. Now it crashes whenever I open the settings screen on Android 14. Will update this review if that changes.

    Owen P. · 2 months ago · version 11.11.4 · 126 found this helpful

  • My daily driver

Been using this for about four months now and it has not let me down once. Starts instantly even on my old phone. Will update this review if that changes.

    Kenji T. · 5 months ago · version 11.11.4 · 187 found this helpful

  • Quietly excellent

This has quietly become one of the apps I open every day. The tablet layout is thought through rather than stretched. Will update this review if that changes.
