Grain Studio is a art & design app from Driftwood Collective. It was built around one idea: give people a tool that opens quickly, works when the network does not, and does not ask for an account before it is useful.

What you get
• 28 print simulations
• Per-channel misregistration
• Batch export at 600 dpi

How it behaves
Everything that can happen on the device happens on the device. Where Grain Studio does need a server, it tells you before it sends anything. Settings are plain, exports are open formats, and nothing is locked to this app if you decide to move on.

Grain Studio is a one-off purchase. There is no subscription and no advertising.

Driftwood Collective reads every support message. If something is broken, write in and it gets looked at — the release notes name the people who reported each fix.

    Been using this for about four months now and it has not let me down once. Support replied to me in under a day with an actual answer. Will update this review if that changes.

  • Good with caveats

    Good core app, a few rough edges. I would like more control over notifications — it is all or nothing right now. Worth the money.

  • Does exactly what it says

    This has quietly become one of the apps I open every day. The tablet layout is thought through rather than stretched. Recommended regardless.

  • Better than the big names

    Exactly what I wanted and nothing I did not. The offline support is the real selling point for me. Happy to raise the rating once it is fixed.

  • Quietly excellent

    Switched from a paid competitor and have not looked back. Battery use is negligible, which I cannot say for the alternatives. Worth the money.
